St Martins 700th Birthday Celebrations
700 Years as a Parish
St Martin’s was originally a Reculver Minster, Chapel of Ease, with worship on the site since Saxon times. In 1310 it was granted independence as a parish. At that time the parish boundary covered Hampton and the whole of Herne Bay, as well as Herne and Broomfield. Today, St Martin’s serves the people of Herne, Broomfield, Eddington, Greenhill, Herne Common, Still Water and the Talmead Road Estate.
